Bad weather and rescheduled plans 😒

This beach day happened a week later than originally planned. Why? Because of the weather 🤦🏽‍♀️

On the day we planned to go, it rained - quite heavily actually - for a few hours so we thought it would be best to reschedule our plans, just to be safe.

I’m learning to be more flexible because not everything will go according to plan 🤷🏽‍♀️.

So, how do you deal with bad weather 🤔?

It can be hard to reschedule plans especially when you’re in a new country for a limited time.

Do you just “go with the flow” and hope the weather clears or, do you cancel and reschedule plans?
This week was a bit “meh” for me, and I learned the hard way to prioritise rest and take care of me first.

Things I want to do this month:

- Go on a solo brunch date 🥙
- Paint 🎨 something, anything, twice this month
- Go on a walk🚶🏽‍♀️at least 3 times a week
- Go phone free for 1 day this month 🤞🏽
- Prioritise REST and go to bed before midnight

What are a few things you want to be intentional about this month? Lemme know 👇🏾

Also, Happy Easter! ☺️❤️
✨Travelling in Nigeria: Debunking Myths ✨

NEW BLOG POST 🥳

I really wanted to share this on my feed because it’s my first blog collab and it’s really good if I do say so myself ☺️.

Going along with my theme of domestic travel, I thought about the most frequently asked questions around travel in Nigeria and decided to do a blog post on it because why not 🤷🏽‍♀️.

It’s features “myths” around travelling in Nigeria which have been debunked by:

@thefisayo
@thattokelady
@itz.nikeh
@nomadic_negro
And me

Link in bio! I really hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

In other news it’s Friday! What have you got planned for this weekend 🤔?
Jaekel House 🏠

This colonial building can be found in the Nigerian Railway Compound. It was built in the late 1800’s and used to be the house of the first Nigerian Railway General Manager. For a building so old it’s been well maintained.

Now a mini museum, it houses different parts and components of the old rail system used in Nigeria, and the stories behind them.

✨ Some scenes of Kunle Afolayan’s movie “October 1” were shot here.

If you do decide to visit there is a:

Museum tour fee
Picture taking fee

The price is negotiable but shouldn’t be more than 500 for each of the offerings per person.

You can choose to take pictures without taking a tour (however, you can’t go into the building without a guide).

And of course the grounds are quite picturesque 🥰.

Adventurous things to do in Lagos ✨SAVE✨

Lagos may not be your first choice when it comes to adventure (it definitely wasn’t mine…until I started some domestic travel). However, we do have our fair share of adrenaline pumping activities.

Here are the 3 adventurous activities to do when in Lagos:

✨ Surfing 🏄🏾‍♀️ at Tarkwa Bay: you can visit the beach, rent a board and surf some waves. There are instructors to put you through if you’ve never surfed before.
 * If you would like to actually learn how to surf check out @gpsurfing, a surf school in Tarkwa Bay.

✨ Kayaking 🚣🏾‍♀️ on the Lagos Lagoon: you could find yourself kayaking underneath the Lekki - Ikoyi link bridge 🙀, if you choose this activity.

✨ Camping ⛺️: yes, yes and yes, black people do camp 🙄. And you can camp in Lagos at @lufasipark (you have to bring along your camping gear), and at the beach (Tarkwa Bay) if you fancy a beach sunrise ⛅️ and sunset 🌇.

Top 8 adventurous things to do in Lagos is now live on my blog. Link in bio!

Which one do you think you’ll be doing 🤔?
I like to document everything and I used to feel guilty about my constant taking of videos, pictures. But anything that helps me remember where I was and how I felt at a particular moment is something I want to use to document my memories.

You can’t see, it but in this picture I was excited! It was my first outing after being home for 2 weeks and I was excited to be back doing what I enjoyed - travelling (even though domestic). Now every time I look at this picture I’ll remember that feeling.

So, constant documentation of your life may seem like you don’t appreciate moments without the camera, but that’s not true.

There isn’t a particular recipe or way to enjoy life or be in the moment.

It’s unique to everyone ❤️
When I was younger when we travelled there really wasn’t anything more to it other than taking a break from daily life.

So when I wanted to start travelling intentionally, to experiencing places for myself I wasn’t really sure the kind of experiences I was seeking.

Then last year I decided to do a little domestic travel 🧳 to find out.

Fast forward to now 💨

I know that the first thing I will look for when in a new country is it’s culture; the food (a MAJOR emphasis on this 🤤), the people, the daily life. Then, throw in some adventure 🚣🏾‍♀️ and I’m golden ✨

So my question to you is what experiences do you seek first in a new country?
💫Choosing a travel destination during a pandemic 💫 SAVE 💫

I haven’t done any international travel since the pandemic started but I have started planning. Here are a few steps I have gone through while planning that have eased the process choosing a destination:

👉🏾 The first thing you will want to find out is your country’s status. Are you allowed to travel? On lockdown?

👉🏾 You'll want to consider your home situation next. Do you live with people who are vulnerable to the virus? Make the best decision for everyone involved.

👉🏾 Next decide if you’re going to be travelling domestically or Internationally.

👉🏾 If you decide to travel internationally, settle on the continent you want to travel to.

👉🏾 Check the status of the potential countries you want to travel to. Are their borders open? Is the country you’re departing from allowed entry into your potential travel destinations?

👉🏾 Safety: how safe is your country of choice? Both in terms of your personal safety and how well they handled the pandemic.

👉🏾 Entry requirements: visa? vaccine? price of cov 🤫 (the post will get flagged 😂) test on arrival? how many tests you’ll need to take throughout the trip (before, during & after)? How current do the tests need to be? quarantine on arrival? Quarantine when you get back to your country of residence?

Check their government websites (do your research)

👉🏾Transportation: go with the safest choice, the one that provides the lowest possibility of you contracting the virus. Then compare prices of your chosen transportation to the your potential travel destinations.

👉🏾 Interests: what type of holiday do you want?

👉🏾 Accommodation: which type will be safer to stay in? Which type will be more likely to have followed cleaning protocols?

Once you’ve gone through all these steps then you’ve most likely chosen a safe destination for your next trip!

Now get to planning! Safely of course ☺️
✨ Invest in yourself ✨

“The moment you think you know everything is the moment you stop growing” - saw this somewhere on Instagram and it really spoke to me about the importance of investing in oneself.

This can be in the form of a product, course, membership, something that helps you level up your skills or investing your TIME.

The time and effort you put into your skills, your brand. This also counts as investing in yourself. Time is finite, it’s precious and it’s money.

So, if it’s important you, invest in it.

PSA 🗣: pay for that membership, buy that course or product, spend your time wisely.

How are you going to be investing in yourself this year?
