Natura Luxury Lodge is worth the hype. If you’re taking a group trip to Benin Republic and you’re looking for a unique stay, Natura Luxury Lodge is a fantastic option.

This lake house is a great place to unwind and immerse yourself in nature. In this post, I will be reviewing this stay from the services and rooms to the amenities and surrounding area.

Spoiler alert, this was my favourite stay and the highlight of my entire trip – 10/10 for me.

The Area

Natura Luxury Lodge is a lake house located in a gated compound (safety is not an issue) with 3 other properties in Ouidah, Benin Republic. Although the lodge is secluded, it is still very well connected to Wi-Fi and not completely off the grid. I truly felt at peace here.

The Amenities

Although secluded, this lodge has a number of amenities and activities to indulge in once you’re on the premises. There is a large pool which can be used by anyone staying in any of the lodges on the compound.

Right beside the pool is a hammock where you can peacefully fall asleep to the sounds of nature. Also, a kayak has been made available to anyone who wants to spend their time exploring the lake.

The Rooms

This 3 bedroom wooden, rustic lodge is stunning all around. There is one room with twin beds and 2 rooms with double beds, each room has large windows with panoramic views of the lake. The primary room has a small living space, toilet and bathtub (the main attraction) that looks out onto the lake.

There is a small dining table, a living room and a large farm table outside which sits on a large dock overlooking the lake. The rest of the house has a living room with a TV, a small dining table and of course a kitchen.

If you’re thinking about the shower situation, there is 1 shared shower which also has an amazing view of the lake.

The Food & Drink

If you’re staying at this lodge, you have the option of self-catering or hiring the in-house chef (for an extra fee) for the duration of your stay.

If you decide to cook, there is a fully stocked kitchen with everything you could possibly need – pots/ pans, utensils, gas cooker, glasses and plates. All you need to do is buy the food.

Hiring the chef, on the other hand, frees up more time for rest. For our stay, we hired the chef to cook breakfast on our last morning in Benin and he really cooked up a storm. For 3,000 CFA per person, we enjoyed a feast of fruits, eggs, sausages, bread and orange juice.

The Cost

You can only book the entire lodge – 3 rooms with a maximum occupancy of 6 people. The price may vary depending on the platform you make your booking. You can either book via booking.com (which is quite reliable) or you can contact the property and book directly. We had this whole lodge to ourselves – 6 people, 3 rooms for 1 night and it wasn’t enough time, but for $450 it was absolute bliss.

💡 Tip: plan your stay here early because it books up months in advance.

Is it worth booking?

100%. This lodge snags the number 1 spot on my list of top 2023 stays. This lodge has everything, fast Wi-Fi, a pool, panoramic views of the lake and stunning sunsets and sunrises. I’m very excited to go back and experience it again.
