The Best Waterfalls in Ghana

I have been to 3 waterfalls in Ghana, each one an adventure on its own. You need to hike mountains to get to some of them, walk long distances or climb canopy walkways. To help you better plan your visits, here is a guide to 6 well-maintained and accessible waterfalls in Ghana.

Wli waterfalls - Volta Region Ghana

Wli (or Agumatsa as the locals call it) is the highest waterfall in West Africa at 80 metres. It is 4 hours away from Accra in the Volta region so it’s quite a distance however, the drive is worth it. There are 2 waterfalls at Wli – the upper falls and the lower falls. But, before you begin the walk/hike to any of them, you need to pay an entry fee of 60 cedis ($5) for non-Ghanaians or 25 cedis ($2) for Ghanaians and a guide accompanies you.

Get Travel Insurance

I use SafetyWing whenever I travel because it is travel medical insurance created by nomads for nomads. You can buy a policy for the duration of your trip and end it when you want; it is also extremely flexible. Check out their website and get travel insurance for your next trip!
